Believe it or not, you don’t always have to use the same wedge for all of your chips around the green. With different club face angle comes a variety of possibilities for shot distance, arc, and rollout. You can take advantage of your pitching wedge, sand wedge, or 7 iron to get closer to the hole depending upon your lie and what you see.
In this free video lesson, PGA Professional Ali Jean Wells demonstrates one of the best chipping drills for getting your distance right around the green. You’ll learn how to make chipping practice much more fun and challenging with a few cones and the three aforementioned clubs. Test your skills, play around, and see what happens when you utilize each club for different distances. We recommend working chipping drills such as this one as well as other short game drills into your training regimen to really take your chipping to the next level!
